The Springfield Education Foundation is a proud supporter of Eugene-Springfield Safe Routes to School.
Eugene-Springfield Safe Routes to School’s (SRTS) mission is to serve a diverse community of parents, students, and organizations in advocating for and promoting the practice of safe bicycling and walking to and from schools throughout Springfield.
Safe Routes to School’s education program reaches approximately 850 elementary students with a pedestrian safety education course and almost all 6th graders with a 10-day bike safety education course each year. SRTS also supports schools with coordinating Walk+Bike to School encouragement events, partners with the police department to ensure traffic safety around schools and provide free helmets to students who need them, coordinates the district’s crossing guard program, and partners with the City of Springfield, Lane County, and the Oregon Department of Transportation to improve infrastructure along students’ walking and biking routes to and from school.
Donations to Springfield Safe Routes to School will ensure that more students can walk and bike to school safely in our community and develop healthy life skills and habits that will last a lifetime.
