Website Wizard

SEF needs volunteers to help maintain and update our website. As our organization grows, we need technical support in a variety of areas. This work can be done at the SEF office or remotely. Work hours vary depending on the time of year.  Time commitment: two to four hours a month.

Administrative Angel

A volunteer is needed to assist with routine office work. The SEF office is located at 640 A Street. Duties at the SEF office would include: data entry, proofreading written material, event support, ordering and maintaining supplies, assisting with board materials, mailings, etc. Time commitment: two to four hours a week.

Marketing Master

A volunteer is needed to support SEF social media and marketing efforts. Opportunities include creating content, proofing posts, maintaining an editorial calendar and more. This work can be done remotely or in the office. Time Commitment: One blog per month/three to four hours a month.

Grant Reviewers/Readers

This is a very important position for the foundation. Volunteers serve on a team that reads, evaluates, scores and awards the annual grants. Time Commitment: four committee meetings and several hours of reading. This occurs only in the fall.  30 to 60 hours total.

Event Enthusiast

Assist on an event committee. Current events include the Night of 11,000 Stars!, Grant Giver’s Tour, Innovation through Education Breakfast and other private donor events. Tasks and time commitments vary.

Fun Fundraising Fanatic

Assist SEF development team with a variety of tasks. Opportunities include: Event sponsorship procurement, auction procurement, introducing us to your network and more. Time Commitment: two+ hours a month.

Mentor

Volunteer to simply meet with a middle school student at school to discuss their classes, school and goals.  SEF supports mentor programs at Agnes Stewart Middle School and Hamlin Middle School.  Principals hear from teachers that they see an improvement in student performance immediately after students meet with their adult mentors. Minimum time commitment: three times a year, 1 1/2 hours each time after an initial training session.
