Supported Programs

The Foundation was created to enhance student opportunities. Its mission: “Building a bright and successful future for all students through financial support and community involvement.” This is done by investing in programs to inspire learning through our Innovative Educator Grants and also by supporting a variety of other programs.  The Foundation, donors and community invests in these programs with donations, fiscal sponsorship agreements, donor directed funds, volunteer involvement and other support.

These include the Gift of Literacy, Oregon Battle of the Books, Safe Routes to School, Belly-Full, Shana’s Jump and Run, Shana Thomas Barr Memorial Fund student grants, Frank Sherman Grants, PTA Clothing Fund, the Brattain House, Middle School Mentorships , the Kits in Transition to School program and others.

In the fall of 2015-16, the Springfield Education Foundation made a commitment to support the Springfield Public School’s Talented and Gifted Program.  SEF is excited to invest, for the first time,  in the district’s brightest students with a comprehensive, district-wide program increasing offerings for students to learn in and outside of the classroom. With approximately the $20,000 investment the TAG program almost doubles the school district’s investment.  SEF’s support of TAG  provides additional evening academic programs for students to engage with their peers and families, a summer engineering program, support for four teams to compete in the Destination Imagination competition, teacher training materials, and assistance for student participation fees.
